Vaccines protect against highly contagious and potentially deadly viruses and bacteria will mean less risks of dogs/cats getting sick. If all dogs who are playing together are current on their vaccines, then you can be assured that your pup will be playing with fully vaccinated friends.

The Barkmore requires all dogs/cats to be up-to-date on the following vaccinations:

Canine

  •  Rabies

Rabies is required once on or before 15 weeks of age in puppies, boosted again 1 year later and then every three years going forward. Dogs are required by law to be vaccinated against the rabies virus because this deadly virus can spread to humans.

  • DHPP

DHLPP is required as a puppy series beginning at 6-8 weeks old, boosted 2-3 times at 3-week intervals and again a year later.

  •  Bordetella

The Bordetella vaccine helps control and prevent the spread of germs that cause canine cough (kennel cough). If a dog that has been vaccinated with the Bordetella vaccine still acquires canine cough, they will have a less severe form that resolves faster than a dog who is not vaccinated. We do not require a specific Bordetella vaccine.

  • Canine Influenza (Canine Flu)

Canine influenza is an upper respiratory infection in dogs. The virus is highly contagious like kennel cough. It is a veterinary recommended vaccine for dogs that will be going to a groomer, boarding kennel, dog park or any area where they will come in contact with other dogs.

This vaccine is a two-part series and we require both the initial and a booster vaccine (which is usually done 3-4 weeks post the initial vaccine) in order to attend The Barkmore.

Feline

  •  Rabies

Rabies is required once on or before 15 weeks of age in kittens, boosted again 1 year later. Cats are required by law to be vaccinated against the rabies virus because this deadly virus can spread to humans.

  • FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)

This is a combination vaccine that protects cats against feline viral rhinotracheitis (feline herpes), calicivirus and feline panleukopenia (feline distemper).

FVRCP is required as a kitten series beginning at 6-8 weeks old, boosted 2-3 times at 3-week intervals and again a year later.

The Barkmore does not allow any FIV positive cat to board.

In order to allow time for your dog/cat to develop an immune response from vaccines, vaccines are required to be given at least 2 weeks prior to the pet’s reservation.
